Make Me Disappear by Jessica Payne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This story was a bit different than other thriller and suspense reads I’ve read in the past and while I did start to see the twist coming, it also caught me a little off guard. I have to say that in this story with the different perspectives, of what happens with Noelle and Daniel as a person that was in an abusive relationship, I found myself cheering for Noelle when she started taking more control of things.
I was, however, a bit caught off guard by who did what and was behind it all in the end. It was all a sad and unfortunate situation and there was more than one victim in it all. I hesitate to say too much and hope I haven’t already said too much because it really is best to go into this mostly blind and knowing nothing or next to nothing about the story. I was surprised and at the same time not surprised to find out that some of what happened in this story is a real thing that happens in real life – once you read it you’ll likely know what I’m referring to.
This story kept me engaged and interested continuing to read until the end to find out what happened and what all was happening with everyone involved. There were quite a few twists, turns, and things that kept me on my toes or caught me a little by surprise. I very much enjoyed this and am planning to also listen to the audio to see how that enhances the story since I’m also an audiophile.
This is a very good, solid, and well-written debut. Make sure to go pick it up and check it out. You don’t want to miss out on this one! Thanks so much to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Jessica Payne for letting me read and review this amazing thriller. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
